The Sting of Death
Once again the grim reaper has made its presence known. In a recovery year following a devastating covid year, my mother’s family has lost its third member. That’s one loss per quarter - and we still have four 2021 months to go!
This has been taxing. Two of my first cousins transitioned, leaving their mothers to grieve their departure. The other loss was my mom’s baby brother who left seven older siblings mourning. We do not think the young will predecease the old; this unnatural order is a twist of fate that throws us for a loop.
Death is unpredictable. When seasoned adults expire, death packs a powerful punch - but much more so when young people make their exit. 2021 has been a solemn reminder that death is an integral part of life. My goal is to better cope with death and the dying process. Hopefully I can.
Golden Nuggets:
Spoiler alert - Death doesn’t have the final say. God does.
The ultimate sting of death is gone. I Corinthians 15:55-57 (KJV).
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? …But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
